Forums Payment cards American Express Amex Hilton cashback offer / US hotels

  • 12 posts

Some US hotels are now included in the list for the latest Amex Hilton Cashback offer.
Does anybody here have an experience of booking a non refundable / pay-in-advance rate at an US Hilton and get the Cashback to work?
I am hesitant, in Europe payments seem to be made by each hotel independently, but I am not sure this is the case in the US. Thanks All!

Generally Hilton hotels in the US are charged centrally and not by the hotel, so it is unlikely that the offer will work.

I thought all bookings were now charged centrally, which is why pre-paid rates work now – up until recently it was a bit hit or miss as to whether payment was taken immediately?

Nothing has changed. US, Mexico and Caribbean prepaid rates are charged by Hilton and all other hotels charge individually, but some hotels have connected their billing system directly to the Hilton reservation system instead of staff having to manually key in your card number to the machine when they have a spare moment.
