Just sending a referral link for Platinum card and I’m confused by this wording the app shows me when generating a link:
You’ll earn
12,00018,000
Membership Rewards® points for each approved friend. Offer ends 9 January 2024. While you can’t refer your own product, you can still refer for the new credit Card – The Platinum Card.
I have the Platinum and BAPP, am sure when I’ve referred for BAPP before the referral rewards rolled in ok. Is there an issue with Platinum referring for Platinum?
No. I believe this just means you can’t refer to the Platinum Charge Card anymore (only the credit card).
Do you have an old style plat charge card ( as opposed to the new issue plat which is a credit card not a charge card ) ? If so that’s what it means.
Thanks both, but I have the platinum credit card.
Want to make sure the referral bonus happens!
An alternate is I’ll get my other half to refer instead (has the BAPP only).
Mystery solved for future reference, following a quick discussion with Amex chat support:
Got it. The statement “While you can’t refer your own product, you can still refer for the new credit Card – The Platinum Card.”
It’s referring that you cannot generate a referral link for BA Card for now if you generate a referral link for this Platinum Card.
