Has anyone any experience of buying a restaurant gift card with Amex Platinum. I’m not due to go overseas until after the end of this year. Was thinking I could buy a gift card to utilise the benefit. Am travelling to Vancouver, Australia and New Zealand in the New Year. I’m also based in the UK.
Could also buy something for a European destination and keep in hand.
Thankyou for any insight
Also keen to hear the answer to this as I am going to Vancouver in January and don’t think I’ll have another opportunity to use the 2023 overseas credit before then!
This has already been answered on the dedicated thread.
It will be down to how the restaurant processes the payment and the merchant coding. If it’s online or remote merchant code it won’t work.
I don’t know what you expect to hear, except that you need to check the website for every participating restaurant in those cities to see if any sell gift cards remotely and then cross fingers that the restaurant and not a third party handles the purchase.
