    I was making a prepaid hotel booking on Hotels.com and despite there being an option to pay by Amex it kept failing. I contacted Amex who told me that they could see the failed payments and that the problem was that they didn’t have Safekey enabled. I contacted Hotels.com via chat on the App and was promised someone would get back to me within 72 hours.

    Roll on 4 days later and no response from them so I contacted them again via chat on the app and the agent could find no record of the previous chat so I had to go through the whole time again – the agent had no idea what I was talking about and told me I could use another card – not much use if I want to use my Amex!

    Apart from issue of paying by Amex this shows you that there is no point in using chat to contact them as they don’t appear to follow up nor are they able to find previous conversations!

    Can you not pay via PayPal on your Amex card? (Obviously there is still an issue that needs resolving but might get you the outcome you need more quickly)

    No – I tried PayPal with my Amex as the payment method and that didn’t work.

    I paid via my Barclay card but would have preferred Amex.

    I have been paying plenty of hotels on hotels.com these last days. No issues with Amex BAPP. Safekey appears and works correctly.

    Last october a Hotels.com booking wouldnt accept AMEX and when I tried paypal my AMEX cards didnt even show up
