I took out the Amex platinum business card in March when the previous offer was running – spend £12k in first 3 months, receive 80k MR points. My first few transactions, which totalled £5k, did not accrue any MR points and were not showing on the welcome bonus tracker.
Amex Customer services have manually credited my account with the missing 5k MR points. However I have pointed out to them that as the bonus spend tracker is not registering these transactions, I will not automatically receive the welcome bonus once I hit the target spend. I was assured by a manager that the spend tracker on the website is not accurate, and once I hit the target the bonus points will show.
I checked last week and I have spent the required £12k to register the welcome bonus. However the app/website is showing I have “only” spent £7k and that I need to spend a further £5K to get the bonus. I called to escalate this and was told by AMEX customer services that I would need to call after the 3 month period has elapsed, and if I hadn’t reached the required spend, they would credit the points. They also told me as per their T&Cs it can take up to 3 months for the welcome bonus to hit (I explained practically it never takes this long, and the points credit once the spend is reached, but they would not budge). I asked to speak to a manager but was told nobody would be available until the beginning of this week and someone would call me back (this has not happened).
I have raised it as a complaint as I was not getting anywhere with customer services. I had hoped to make a flight redemption and needed the additional MR points, but unfortunately due to the delay the seats are no longer available (I appreciate AMEX will not consider this their problem).
Does anyone have any further advice on how I can get this sorted?
