Thinking of getting an Amex platinum for the pre-Jan 9th sign up bonus.
2 questions I wonder if anyone could help with; would it now be best to wait for 1st Jan for the dining credit benefits or try and sneak in before the end of the year?Are there additional avios rewards for a referral from friends / family or can these not be combined with this offer? Does it have to be someone who has a platinum card already or can it be from any Amex holder?
Thanks!If you asked this a couple weeks ago, I would have said to apply ASAP, so you can still use the 2023 credits. If you applied today, I would think it’s highly unlikely for you to receive your card in time to use any of the 2023 credits. You’d also have to ensure you have enrolled in the offers before spending at HN or any of the restaurants in the list.
The offer is currently only guaranteed until 31/12/2024, so not sure what benefits you will get in 2025. If the credit offer continues past that date, then I guess you can use the 2024 and quickly use the 2025 credits, and only pay 1 year card fee.
Referrals give 80k MR for £10k spend, whereas its 75k without a referral. I think you get the same no matter which card the other person uses to refer you. I tested on my Plat card, and it gives 80k, and I generated a referral from my BAPP, and also offers the same 80k (you just scroll to find the card you want to apply for, and are not limited to the referred card).
I applied 18/12 and got the card 28/12. You will not receive it in time to get any 2023 benefit.
As aq.1988 says, 80k uplifting comes from any Amex referral.
