Hey everyone. Long time reader, first time poster + companion voucher holder.
AMEX PP Companion Voucher. Found return flights we want to Mauritius. Before I book, are there any essential need-to-knows or caveats to be aware of? I also specifically would like to ask:
– Are people asked to present an AMEX card at check-in these days?
– If yes, does it need to match the card I use to pay the BA fees/taxes when I booked the reward flights?
By time we reach the date of the flight, we will have passed the year anniversary of the card and the intention is not to renew for another year (we won’t be cancelling it earlier either).
Many thanks.
I’ve never heard of anyone being asked for an Amex (or any other card) on a BA booking (unlike other airlines), but you could always keep hold of the card and take it with you if it makes you feel less stressed. There is discussion of this in the dedicated threads, if you’ve time to read them all.
My only other advice is to snap up those seats to MRU asap!
Your BA e-ticket receipt states in the first few lines:-
“If the payment cardholder is travelling, you must bring the card used to pay for this booking to the airport with you, for verification, before you can travel.”
You can treat or interpret that as you wish!
As @JDB points out the e-ticket does say that but from personal experience of redeeming at least 15 BA Companion vouchers of my own and an additional similar number from checking in as the second passenger together with the primary voucher holder I have never had the check in agent ask to see the card used to pay for the booking. But I have never cancelled my BAPP.
