So, I spoke to Amex about this in my official capacity.
They were originally very keen to help.
After investigation they came back with 8-10 weeks line. I told them that this is complete nonsense and that they always post overnight.
They came back with a word for word repeat of the original statement.
When I specifically asked if Amex actually had the data or if it had been lost due to a tracking error, they did not reply.

I applied for the platinum card using the link in the pinned platinum 80k thread.
Amex have said on a chat with them today that this didn’t come through to them as a referral from you/HfP, just as a standard application, so 80k and nothing extra for me or you as the referrer.
For future reference, how should I have done this?
I also messaged on chat today and pretty much the same as what Rob went through.
They kept repeating the 8-10 week line, and when I said that many people are waiting, and wondering if there is an issue tracking it at Amex’s end, the agent left the chat whilst I was still typing my next message.
The next agent repeated the 10 week line, and then went further to say that the referral points only post when the person being referred hits the spend target and has been awarded the SUB. I pointed out that that’s incorrect given that they always post the next day, and then she went back to the 10 week line! Gave up in the end.

You need to ask us/someone for a dedicated refer a friend link. This takes you to a special application portal and shows the higher bonus clearly at all stages.

Top class farce this one… but luckily I got 4 in in January before this issue, so only 18k to my max for the Platinum – and I’ve had someone tell me they used my link since thus why I’ve ended up in this thread…. as well as a couple of BAPP referrals, all no showing.
Fair whack of points sounding like are lost now by the ominous chats I’m hearing from above.
Seems like we will need to be setting reminders in a diary for Mid/end March and chasing this up. I have 2 referrals 36,000 points outstanding….
I applied for the Amex platinum in the last offer. 80k points increased to 100k when referred.
This was in November. The person who referred me for their points immediately.
I have just hit the spend target but have only been awarded 80k points. They have told me the remainder will appear in 8-10 weeks.
my wife referred her friend yesterday, and the points posted today. My referral from the 11JAN has also come in today, so get checking!

Great news, also able to confirm that my referral bonuses also pointed today! That’s a relief…

Feel a bit bad for complaining to CS yesterday, but still ridiculous that one of the agents said that the referral points only post after the SUB has been earned by the person being referred!
Mine appeared yesterday after being outstanding for a week. As stated here, they previously appeared almost immediately, none of this 10 weeks BS from AX CS agents!
TIP: always, always, always take screen shots of the application process showing the enhanced number of MR/Avios points being offered during the new customer signup process. There have been too many reports of referral/SUB points not coming through correctly and AMEX saying that they didn’t use the correct link.
They just appeared, took around 9 days for mine.
FYI, my referral points all posted yesterday.
