What’s the deal has the previous offer been withdrawn or … I was never written to with a choice the I’ll never use the vocuher due to low avios balance and would of preferred avios lump sum
I called the executive office at Barclays the bonus amount is 7k avios or upgrade voucher , it’s been circulated via the call centre teams who should be aware of the amount of avios offered instead of the voucher

Well my voucher already posted so Im stuck , they said they will send an email to specialist team to investigate however as the voucher in my case already issued and showing in BA account unlikely they will be able to do anything , the lady said customers should of been written too with the choice …. Well I never got a letter

Theoretically, yes, as you can use it to book for someone else. Obviously it might cause issues in reality as the booking would stay in the voucher holder’s account, plus it’s obviously against the Ts and Cs of all parties to barter vouchers and avios!
My vouchers are worth loads more than 7k avios though, even on short haul with the ridiculous pricing. They’d have to offer me a lot more than that. DXB in CW world in December was 85k avios plus £350 with the voucher, cash price is £3315.

That is an astonishing cash price for DXB considering you’re not a nonstop from LHR. Even on bad days, Skyteam can usually be had for £2200. BHX often throws up unusual prices for AF/KLM to DXB.
Presumably the influencers are determined to get there at any cost 😉. Obviously it’s very unlikely I’d pay that much money for a bit of winter sun but it does illustrate just how much value you can get out of the upgrade voucher if you use it wisely – a lot more than 7k avios will get you, anyway!
That was LHR-DXB, btw, due to the vagaries of the voucher I left out connecting flights for simplicity.

I’m slightly worried about his blood pressure after a fellow reader suggested changing their name by deed poll to maximise SUB opportunities.
It is a rubbish voucher but that makes me even more determined to wring maximum value out of it (while adhering strictly to all Ts and Cs, of course), it’s a matter of pride!

How many Avios would x1 Pax save by using an upgrade voucher on, say return trip off-peak LHR-JFK?
What’s this about an annual bonus/upgrade voucher? Didn’t know about that – is there a link for more info?
Apparently customers are going to be offered a certain number of avios in lieu of the upgrade voucher. Reports suggest it will be 7k but there was also a suggestion it might vary by customer. I imagine there will be an article as and when it becomes official!
@Terry, yes it’s poor unless you definitely have no use for the voucher. But if you’re only going to spend avios on non-BA flights (or swap them for Nectar), then it would be a little extra bonus.

So not Barclaycard related but my Barclays Premier upgrade voucher just hit my BAEC account. There was no delay issuing it but also no mention of an Avios equivalent for not taking it. 7k sounds far too low.
I’m not sure if it was ever realistic to expect the Avios alternative to be much different to the cost to Barclays of the voucher, but it’s hardly difficult to get significantly more than 7k Avios value from it despite the comments from the small but vocal band of naysayers.

and without the voucher it would be 160K Avios plus ~£350? So in this example the voucher is worth 75K Avios? Did Tilly hear incorrectly? 70K not 7K? 🤣

With the recent changes (more Avios, less cash) what I really need is more Avios; not more vouchers. I was hoping for a large amount of Avios instead of the Barclays vouchers. I could then use this large number of Avios along with the more flexible AMEX 241. So I might still consider 14K Avios / year in exchange for the Barclays vouchers if I was really struggling for enough Avios to use the AMEX 241.
I’m assuming that Barclays is aiming at the majority of people who use their avios to book the occasional flight in CE, who would presumably think 7k was a decent deal. It would be fun though, if they offered to give you the number of avios you saved by using a previous voucher!
I’ve not been able to access my avios & progress to the voucher in the Barclays app, since 1st March. Chatted with Barclays on line, and didn’t know anything about the issue, apparently. Maybe all a coincidence, but feels like there’s something linked to the changes ?
