I had this problem months ago, then it was fixed, now it’s back and for weeks now whenever I select a reward flight and try to pay for it, the system keels over and I get a ‘Sorry’ page asking me to try again later.
The previous occasion it happened the call centre employee acknowledged it was a known problem that was on the ‘to do’ list for repair, which it eventually was. Now it’s back.
It’s not the end of the world having to call to book but you need to convince the telephonist you’ve got a genuine problem impeding you from making an online booking, moreover, the process takes about 25 minutes while they talk you through the steps and you have to listen to them reading back the script that I now know off by heart. I’m tempted to just book with an LCC if I’m not taking checked luggage.
I’m really sorry I can’t help you. But I’m silver and have made 3 Avios bookings over the past two weeks without any issues. Hope you manage to get the problem sorted soon.
This happens to me occasionally but only for random dates and routes; it comes and goes without anyone actively fixing anything AFAIK.
I’ve submitted a complaint online about this, let’s see what happens. It was fixed once so it should happen again.
I made bookings over the phone today, mercifully if you make more than one booking on the same call you can skip having the T&Cs read back to you repeatedly but it’s still a time consuming process. The telephonist was waiting an eternity for pages to load when I was able to bring up availability in a matter of seconds.
