Anyone had any joy getting the card added to Apple Pay?
When I try it just tells me that the card is not supported. My Barclays premier card is on Apple Pay so I can’t imagine why a credit card couldn’t be added
Hopefully Barclays sort that out soon as these days that’s like not being able to use it in an atm would have been 20 years ago.
Quite ‘amusing’ when one of the leaflets which came with the card specifically refers to being able to use the the card with Apple Pay!

Yes, I saw that too.
It’s quite clear this card is still in the experimental stage. Can’t be leave they released it without ironing out what are otherwise major issues/bugs.
I called them about inability to register for apple pay (tried via wallet and app, no option present in app), and they couldnt even find my card number on their system let alone explain why I couldnt register for Apple pay. Their IT systems both customer facing and backend leave a lot to be desired.
It must be intended to be enabled if the leaflet that was included with it mentions it, I quote:
“If you’ve got an Apple device, set up Apple Pay in our app and start collecting Avios every time you pay with your phone. In the app select ‘Cards’ and tap ‘Apple Pay’.”It’s quite clear this card is still in the experimental stage. Can’t be leave they released it without ironing out what are otherwise major issues/bugs.
Ahhhhh! Of course I meant believe.
I saw a tweet from them saying that Apple Pay support is definitely coming. So… we’ll see, I suppose!
My card arrived tonight and doesn’t work with Apple Pay or Curve.
I simply don’t have time to waste hours on the phone to these clowns to sort it. Is it worth just waiting for a few days?

You answered your own question?
Thanks for this post, given up trying to speak to someone about this.
Can’t believe they have launched a new product without Apple Pay..
I had this response when I posted on a Barclaycard advert on Facebook
Hiya Rich, sorry to keep you waiting for so long and I totally get why you’re unhappy with everything!😔
So we’re aware that our new Avios cards aren’t adding to Apple Pay and this is being looked into as as we speak, apologies for any inconvenience this has caused! We will be texting all of our Avios card customers within the next week when hopefully the option to use Apple Pay will become available.
Thanks for bearing with us and in the meantime if you like to log a complaint, you can absolutely do so here: https://www.barclays.co.uk/complaints/.
Just be sure to note down everything that’s happening and include that you wish to be refunded and that way we can fully address all of your concerns.

Don’t hold your breath, Sainsburys Bank promised ApplePay support was coming in 2015 … still not available!

Barclaycard at least have a track record of offering Apple Pay, which Sainsbury’s Bank do not (to my knowledge) so that gives me a small amount of hope. Nonetheless, I’ve learned quickly not to hold my breath for anything Barclaycard say they’ll do.
Remember that Curve works on Apple Pay so linking this to Curve does the job.
I got a text today from them suggesting this was something they’re actively trying to fix:
Thanks for opening your new Avios Plus Barclaycard. We’re sorry if you’ve had problems adding your card to Apple Pay. We’re aware of the issue and we’ll message you again as soon as you’re able to add it. Thanks for bearing with us. Your Barclaycard Team
I am hoping to get a date from them during next week of when it will be fixed.
Curve – works fine, but for security reasons you must make a chip and pin transaction before it can be added. Same with online purchases in general.

That doesn’t appear to be (universally) true. Added mine with no problems having received it today and not been out yet to do a chip and pin transaction, though the verification transaction did go through 3DS. Pushed a small back-in-time transaction through it and that also seems to be fine, albeit still in pending status on the Barclaycard app at present.
Note an update on twitter from Barclaycard:
“We’re aware of an issue adding Avios cards to Apple Pay and we’re working on a fix for this now. You’ll be able to do this from 5th April 👍”May save my effort trying it every few days until 5th April!

Hmmm – I wonder which April they are referring to.
Any idea if this will be the same for Google pay?

Nope. With Android, you have to use their Barclays app to do contactless payment.
So, had a chat with a rep on iMessage regarding an estimated date on Apple Pay support and got this reply:
“I would be more than happy to help you on this, however I am sorry Avios is a master card and master cards is not yet compatible with Apple pay, and once Apple will allow it we will be more than happy offer customer this service.”
Does not give me confidence to be with them on the long run. This is my first ever Barclays product BTW
PS. This was on 4 April.
I had a reply this morning and message says now delayed until 10th May…

Sigh, so it looks like nothing is happening today then. Resetting that countdown.
