Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Radisson Rewards artotel Hoxton – status recognition

  • 60 posts

I thought I’d try out the Art Otel Hoxton for my next o/n in London and have booked a 1 bed suite.

I’ve received a generic type email from them offering various ad ons to my stay for a (apparently) discounted price. Bottle of wine in room for £30 instead of £50 etc Another is to pay £25 for a floor 10 or above room or £40 for a Skyline view.

As I have VIP status I would hope to be upgraded to the higher floor or better view room anyway but cannot get the hotel to confirm.

They also offer early/late check in/out on this email at £30 an hour but this should also be a benefit of VIP status so asked (via email about this) but that Q was ignored. My view is that if it’s something that can be paid for in advance and confirmed then it should be confirmable to guests with relevant status in advance.

Does anyone have any experience of this hotel honouring Radisson status or anything else to expect?

I do hate the confrontation of having to ask for these things but also, they are used as an incentive to make me book with them so I think it fair to expect them when available.

@smitrax – there are just so, so many people with hotel status or agent booking privileges that your “view is that if it’s something that can be paid for in advance and confirmed then it should be confirmable to guests with relevant status in advance” isn’t really a flyer. Hotels will attempt to maximise revenue by trying to upsell you and keep you guessing as to whether you will or won’t get an upgrade on the day. That’s why these schemes are a bit silly and many hotels are just as happy to upgrade strangers.

There was also a thread started last week seemingly offering a way to get Radisson VIP status instantly so maybe you now need to explore ways of getting VVIP status for this free upgrade!

I stay here and the Battersea one a fair bit and so far I’ve never been told “Oh just to let you know we’ve upgraded you” at the Hoxton one. Last time my room was nicer than the time before so I’m pretty sure I got a one category upgrade but I can’t for certain.

Obviously they do recognise the status as I got breakfast daily and they even did more than one piece of ironing for me (even if they did mark one of my shirts…)

The Battersea one I seem to have more luck upgrading but it’s summer and both hotels are busy.
