Best hotel for a couple within an easy taxi ride to Ascot please, Indigo standard and above please. Not on points.

    Thankyou.

We find this area really sparse with decent hotels. Our son lived in Windsor and we’ve tried just about everything and wouldn’t recommend much. Have you looked at Great Fosters (Egham). It’s uber-able.

I’ve never stayed but you could try the Royal Berskhire Hotel located at London Rd, Sunninghill, SL5 0PP though if you’re going to Royal Ascot they are sold out on 20 and 21 June.

A bit further away there’s the Hilton Doubletree St Annes Manor in Wokingham. Not sure if that’s the same standard as an Indigo.

There are quite a lot of good hotels in this area. The best by some margin is probably Coworth Park but I recognise it is frowned upon by the HfP team owing to the hotel ownership and its unacceptable views.

Amongst others there is also Oakley Court near Windsor and Gilbeys in Eton.

Thanks for the suggestions, Le Manoir is a little too far and a little too pricy.

Its for the Champions Day in October so will need to get snappy.

The royal Berkshire hotel near sunningdale is nice although probably pricey on race days. Taxis get hard to find and expensive on race days so best not to go too far out

To be honest, you would be far far better off either staying in London or Reading (or indeed Henley or Oxford if you want somewhere more picturesque) – anywhere that gives you easy access to the railway line between Reading and London Waterloo which runs through Ascot. Traffic around Ascot on a busy race day (and Champions Day is likely to be very busy given that it is Frankie Dettori’s farewell) is a nightmare and you will really struggle to find a taxi after racing. By contrast it is really easy by train – it is a ten minute walk up a purpose built walkway from the railway station directly into the racecourse. If you need more help or tips let me know.
