I’ve just had an email from the Executive Club to say that they are giving a 40% bonus on all Avios bought or gifted from now until 11th September.

Am wondering if it works with Balance Booster.. 🧐🧐

Translation: I wonder if someone else will try it out and let me know.

Well wonder no more for Aston100 is here to save your lazy ass.
And the answer is NO, it doesn’t.

They don’t look good value at current pricing though.

I had a quick look. Terrible value even with the bonus! (IMO)

Why is the balance booster rate so much better than the straightforward buying options? Is it to incentivise people to use the shopping portal/credit cards etc (that they can make money out of)?

Boost there to make it easier for people who already collect Avios get to their redemption faster (but not buy too many) and not give up collecting while simple buying is really just a back door way for people to buy points and get “cheap” flights if the economics works for them.

They are incentivising the behaviour that makes them more money in the long run (keep earning to satisfy an urge for a future great deal) rather than someone who just buys and burns because it made sense at the time.

I’m sure lots of buzzwords like customer lifetime value, Gamification and stickiness get thrown around in meetings.

It makes sense for people like me (family of 5, companion vouchers). If there was no mechanism to buy a proportion of the points at a financially worthwhile price point then I would just get off the train.

Superb value if, like me, you are using an Avios upgrade voucher to fly long haul in Club World.
