Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Problems booking open jaw Avios flights on Aer Lingus

I’m exploring booking either of the Aer Lingus direct Manchester services to JFK and Orlando in May. Given the situation with getting BA to answer the phone I’ve searched on and can find pretty good availability in both directions on return itineraries. However, I might choose an open jaw but searching for 2 distinct 1-ways gives next to no availability on flights that are readily bookable as return trips. Is this normal?

When the flights were first announced, you couldn’t book Aer Lingus one way tickets FROM the US because it did not yet have permission to do so from the authorities. This could be linked to that although it wouldn’t explain why you can’t do a one way going out.

Many thanks for your reply Rob – looking further into it it looks like I can book Westbound direct flights as 1-ways so you could well be on to something there.

However, the Eastbound direct services don’t show availability for 1-ways on any date I select. For example, I can book JFK-DUB-MAN all on EI as a 1-way but not the JFK-MAN direct on the same day unless I include it in a return itinerary. As far as I can see its the same situation on the MCO diet. Not the end of the world but it looks like I might be making a phone call.
