    I’m terrible at maths but presumably if you’re paying the fee on a Barclaycard Avios it works out even better, as you’ll be earning Avios on that as well.

    The 10% bo is so only for June and July though,

    Has anyone that has done this got a view if that you use a BAPP Amex then it also qualifies for: 3X Avios in purchases made with British Airways or BA Holidays for every £1 spent?

    Thanks,
    SD

    I suppose if you have the Barclaycard Avios Plus (or the BA Amex PP), then you could argue that because you are getting the 1.5/£1 Avios for the spend that it comes down to ~0.83p per Avios (during the June/July 10% promotion). It would actually come down to ~0.82p with the free versions of that card too I think (0.826p vs 0.829p)
    I think that most people view the Credit Card collection as a separate element though.

    When I bought it noted “Avios IAG something-or-another” as the seller , its still pending on Amex but now showing as “BA PURCHASE AVIOS” so the jury is still out wether its x1.5 or ×3.0 avios per pound… I would guess the former.

    As with the Avios subscription or purchase, the retailer is Avios Group, not BA, so normal earning level if paying with the BAPP – 1.5 Avios/£

    Hi All – long time lurker but this peaked my interest after a couple of SUBs.

    Player 1
    Boosted Avios 9791 x 3 = 29373
    Bonus = 2938
    Total = 32311
    Charge = £270.24
    0.83p/Avios

    Player 2 with 50k Barclays and 70k Amex SUB
    Boosted Avios 129134 x 3 = 387402
    Bonus = 38741
    Total = 426143
    Charge = £4307.02
    1.01p/ Avios

    The second one is surprisingly poor as if it were 0.83p, my wife would lay £4307 for 518k Avios.

    I may play with permutations as I’m not sure why it’s such a poor rate in the second case.

    Because you haven’t read the rules? 🙂

    The price gets worse if you buy over 300,000 Avios via Boost.

    I have been checking and if I boost the Barclays (50k and 4k sundries) and Amex (70k SUB and 1k sundries) separately, I still benefit from the 84p/avios rate as presumably combining in one transaction means I hit the higher pricing tier for boosts in excess of 300k.

    So individually:

    AMEX Boosted Avios (74,172 x3) = 222,516
    10% bonus = 22,252
    Total Avios = 244,768
    Total charge = £2,047.15
    84p/avios

    BARCLAYS Boosted Avios (54,962 x3) = 164,886
    10% bonus = 16,489
    Total Avios = 181,375
    Total charge = £1,516.96
    84p/avios

    I haven’t done anything yet (and am new to this points game after Clubcard all went south so binned my Tesco Credit Card!) but I’m wondering if I could do the above in two, separate transactions which thereby doesn’t exceed the 300k poor value threshold.

    Then it would be £3564.11 for 426143 Avios (still 84p/avios)

    3,349 posts

    oh my eyes!

    84p/avios should be .84p/avios!

    And it’s a 300k limit in total for the lower price not a 300k per transaction limit. Doing two separate transactions won’t get around that and any boost over 300k will cost more.

    136 posts

    Oops my bad you’re absolutely right!

    I am able to come in at c.300k with one “triple” and one “single” boost still with reasonable value as it’s the 300k threshold that seems to spoil things. If I do a double or triple again on the second one, the value is eroded unfortunately.

    When done in separate transactions, it would give 305227 Avios for £2574.79, or 0.84p/avios

    Transaction 1
    Boosted Avios (74,172 x3) = 222,516
    10% bonus = 22,252
    Total Avios = 244,768
    Total charge = £2,047.15

    Transaction 2
    Boosted Avios (54,962 x1) = 54,962
    10% bonus = 5,497
    Total Avios = 60,459
    Total charge = £527.64

    I’m not sure whether to go ahead but will sleep on it, as this would add 300k to our 70k/50k/70k/50k SUBs tally and allow the midnight call centre booking / subsequent refund drama where I may not have had enough beforehand to use this method for a family of four limited to school holidays.

    Really appreciate all of the advice – great site!!

    We’ve just opted for the 3x boost + 10% bonus this month. 14,679 avios for £122.77. We were contemplating buying some avios for a planned redemption so this is much cheaper (to buy 15,000 avios is £279).

    Has anyone discovered whether a transfer/purchase of avios from Topcashback can be boosted?

    If the two respondents above interpreted your question correctly, then they have provided a sound answer.

    If, however, you were asking whether a 3xAvios transaction (eg BA flight or holiday) qualifies for a triple boost + 10% under this offer, then I can confirm that it does.

    For this reason today I’ve paid as much as I can of the balance of my BA holiday on my BA Amex card as I can without prematurely triggering my next Companion voucher so that the 3xAvios posts to my account on 8 July and is eligible for this triple boost + 10% offer.

    I’ve also got a 9,000 Avios refer a family member bonus posting this week and intrigued to see whether it too is eligible.

    Sorry bad phrasing. It was the former I wished to know; and unfortunately it looks like the standard 1.5x avios per pound.

    I really hate overnight flights, so would prefer to return from a US/Caribbean trip, for example, on the day flight from NYC or BOS. If I book this as RFS in WT, the inbound leg of a 241 booking, it is 25k avios plus £100 for 2 of us. Buying the 25k avios in this promotion is £210. So for £310 cash outlay, I get 2 very flexible flights from NYC-LHR-MAN, which feels like a decent deal. The cheapest return flight to NYC, with checked baggage, in August is £850 pp.

    Can confirm it bills as AVIOS GROUP (ALG) LTD CRAWLEY so will be x1.5 on your BA amex PP card.

    For ref, just checked the Aer Lingus eStore and this Avios Booster option is not available there. I thought it might have been a useful means to double up without hitting the higher threshold on either (My flying credits are spread across BAEC and AerClub).

    What about the Avios.com site ?

    I’ve bitten and paid £275 for just over 33k avios (BA offer plus BAPP earning). I’ve decided to go for max avios, min cash options on my next 2 bookings so this makes sense for me just now. Let’s hope there’s no devaluation so soon after the RFS changes!

    Same here… Got a couple of 241s to run down the Avios, but alongside that I’m quite tempted by tier points that come with a part Avios / cash booking.

    At my current travel I’m probably only gonna end the year on about 1200 TP, but sitting on just under a mil Avios it makes sense to burn some before devaluation.

    Just to be clear. To boost today’s total 186k Inc 10% at 0.84p. I would need to do so by the end of this month?
