I have gone to book a 2-4-1 tonight to Boston from LHR. I have an outbound in First and return in Club, the taxes seem to have priced right but the amount of avios required seems to be 40k more than I thought. They are wanting 158k, the 2-4-1 plus £1,708.50. Outbound is off peak and return is peak. From tables I can find the outbound should be 68k and the return 50k.
Apologies, the return should be 60k, so still 30k more than expected
Business both ways prices up correct at 110k avios plus £ 1,700.00

This has been extensively reported here. Since the RFS changes mixed classes F/J can end up very close to or more expensive than F/F.
Is there any way round it? Just tried a dummy booking for outbound only and it prices right, except doing it that way you get priced out on taxes and lose the 2-4-1 in one direction
