Hi, How likely in your experience is it that more business class Avios availability on a 2-4-1 voucher will be added for flights to Tokyo over Easter 2025?
I am not sure whether to wait and see, or just book flights to somewhere else!
I know these flights are hard to get – just trying to gauge the odds! Thanks.Unlikely, flights are full to the brim so much that they oversell cabins. Easter 2025 period is also peak period for Japanese to travel to Europe (those few that can still afford). You may get lucky a few days before, but I’d make alternative plans such as via Madrid where you can also use 241 voucher with Iberia (booked via ba.com)
I reckon approximately zero, give or take a zero.
No chance whatsoever.
Yeah, a very tough time to be looking at Japan, especially this late in the game.
As an alternative, if you can get to/from PVG on the voucher, you could then look to use Avios to book either PVG–HND or PVG-NRT on JAL. I checked a few random dates in early April for the JAL route and there were economy and business seats available on this route.
That said, there don’t seem to be many reward seats available with BA in business to/from PVG at that time. Perhaps the voucher will open up more; I don’t currently have a voucher to check.
I do see some business seats on Finnair via HEL going out on 3 APR though (80,500 Avios and £395 per person for the outbound). Mostly just seeing economy and premium economy for the return, however.
Another option, if you’re willing to consider Finnair is Seoul (and it’s then possible to use JAL going GMP-HND). Finnair also fly to other Japanese airports that might be worth searching (e.g., NGO and KIX), but availability may be tight for these too unless willing to consider economy.
The Osaka Expo kix off in mid April. This adds to the unlikelihood of award seats.
Also, I made a funny
Check also QR via Doha to KIX, NRT, HND. JAL also flies DOH-HND. You could then use the 241 voucher on BA to Doha. Other options from Doha are to HKG, ICN, PVG and then onwards to Japan if you don’t mind two stops.
BA also flies to Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur all of which have multiple connections to various Japanese cities a day.
I love the typo in the thread name. 😀
After reading the other thread about an actual downgrade I thought this thread was going to report about some argy-bargy they’d witnessed.
The “phone wars” at midnight/1 am as well!
