I have a couple of CE flights that I’ll cancel if they are only 50p to do so but not £35. Has anyone done this recently and can let me know how much they were refunded?
Going through the process, when is it clear what the cost will be?
On the final screen before you confirm the cancellation you are shown what the refund of avios and cash will be.
Just cancelled a pair of Avios econ returns, having paid £70 and 21000 Avios. All Avios back already and £68 ‘in the system’.
Cancelled 3 single CE tickets end of June and early/mid July. £24.50 (ie 50p charge) and Avios were deposited into accounts immediately.
Thanks everyone for their help on this. I went to cancel the flights and of course now BA’s IT keeps asking me to log in to cancel even though I am logged in! Tried on both the app and desktop. Im not calling as I know I will certainly be charged the full whack…
Have you tried on a phone? Very fiddly but sometimes you can do things when other devices are paying up!
Hi NorthernLass, all sorted online at the 5th attempt in at 50p/person. The advice and help on this website is always so useful!
I’ve noticed that the new CE ticket with increased fee are getting charged the usual cancellation fee and not the 50p sadly.
Previously, when I canceled a Club Europe or Euro Traveller flight, I was charged only 50p per flight, which was the minimum cash element of the flight price. However, the cash element for Club Europe flights has recently increased to £12.50. As a result, when I now cancel a Club Europe flight, I’m charged £12.50 per flight instead of the previous 50p. So, to answer your question: the cancellation cost for a Club Europe flight is now £12.50 per flight, whereas it used to be 50p. However, it’s definitely not £35 per booking as advertised.

This is not correct. The price to cancel a flight is whatever you paid up to £35 (or a max of £35 out of whatever you paid).
So if you paid £1 you pay £1 to cancel
… if you paid £20 you pay £20
… if you paid £35 you pay £5
… if you paid £40 you pay £35
… if you paid £1,000 you pay £35But some people have been paying £0.50 only which mus the some sort of bug everyone has been very happy with. SO that means that those paying £1, £10, £20, £35 … got most of their money back.

Very clearly states the fee is £35 for getting back what you paid in Avios+cash regardless of how much cash you paid.
The website is/was working incorrectly but BA could fix it at any point.
A 50p per leg reward is no longer available for CE bookings so the minimum per leg is now £12.50 perhaps why the website is now charging more for newer bookings.
We have today cancelled our 2 October business seats for FCO-LHR-MAN on BA’s website. We paid £270 cash plus 26500 avios. BA confirmed £2 charge. Avios fully returned immediately. Waiting for the cash to be refunded to the credit card.
I think if you booked before the price increase, you’ll still get charged the 50p where applicable.
I cancelled 4 x RFS in ET last week, the cash element for each was £17.50 and I have received all of it back minus 50p.
Agreed, new bookings in CE are charged £12.50 to cancel each leg now.
I have 4 CE flights booked 10 days ago for next week. Final page before cancelling stated my refund would be all the Avios, but £100 less cash than I paid (£196 v £296 paid)
