Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Avios generally and Qatar!

    Hi All,

    Long time reader/lurker!

I have accumulated a rather large number of Avios which I have previously enjoyed using for great redemptions pre pandemic. I understand that the environment is harder now.

I’m trying to get off on holiday somewhere warm in November and I can find nothing for 2 seats in business and even when I try and search with partners hoping for Qatar nothing comes up. Is there somewhere I should be looking to find Qatar reward avialability? I’m just using the BA search. Does it come up on the Qatar website somehow. Any pointers gratefully received!

In November/December you have the World Cup to contend with, so you are unlikely to find much in the way of redemptions to/from Doha.

Any suggestions of places we could reasonably get to? Caribbean? Maldives? Nothing I search for seems to come up with any options these days! any tricks? gratefully received.

I don’t think you will have any luck with the Caribean or Maldives this close in i’m afraid. You could get to somewhere in the US in business class, such as Orlando, Atlanta, Houston and then look at connecting flights to the Caribean potentially. Otherwise Bahrain has availability for Middle east, which you might be able to get a connection to somewhere from? Seatspy is a good tool for BA flights using the where can i go function

Your options are a bit limited, looking for Avios availability now, so that may drive your decision and it may be worth looking at the availability finder. We really like Mexico (but not Cancun) as a destination at that time of year or Argentina and until recently there was quite good availability, but looking last week to add our son to our trip in November/December it has really dried up.

If i were you @BigRW, I’d seriously consider signing up to Seatspy’s £7.99 First Class membership, even if only for one month. You’ll enjoy instant alerts on unlimited BA searches, so should be among the very first to know when new availability pops up, which I found to be surprisingly regular when I was looking for something specific last year.

Unless you’re retired with nothing else to do with with your time but sit refreshing several multi-window search screens, then outsourcing at £8 for a month is a no brainer in my books.
