Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Just had an offer to collect double Avios for bookings made through Avios Hotels up until 24th Feb. It advertises 300,000 hotels worldwide powered by Expedia. The hotel we are currently considering for August came in at £1536 as a cash price compared to £861 on booking.com or slightly less with the hotel directly. Even worse the Expedia direct prices are only marginally higher. What a waste of time. I can’t imagine ever being tempted to use this service.

Its not always that bad , I just booked 3 nights in Madrid, where the direct hotel price was exactly the same as Avios Hotels , and other sites were higher
So was a no brainer, also not a chain hotel so no real benefits for booking direct as well

Also unlike when you book via the Executive store, the awarded Avios have always been awarded on time
Have made a decent chunk Avios from it, and I’m sure many others have as well

So I would always check when booking any hotels

Fair enough. Maybe I was too quick to judge them!

My algorithm is find the hotel that fits my needs for which Avios Hotels matches price. Then booking.com or hotels.com through the eStore. Sometimes it is the same price, sometimes it is not. Sometimes I get Avios, sometimes I do not.

I don’t get too many Avios this way (20-40k) a year but better than nothing.
