Grapevine gossip, with a (wealthy?) US tourist in a London hotel last night. He said he was one of the last to get over here on a Delta upgrade ticket as he couldn’t get an Avios/AA ticket for two at short notice….he obviously knew his way around the reward market as he insisted he had changed an existing Avios ticket to a different zone with no cost…I should have found out more detail….and then he said he could go into an Avios booking to change Avios/payment amount if you wish to amend after booking…I didn’t quite understand his money option re redemptions…too much Gin had kicked in….maybe new rules for the US ?

Repricing the balance of cash/Avios after booking is bloody marvellous news for folks who want to snag a seat, then transfer the required points over from bank/Heathrow/tcb.
They’ve introduced new amendments but still not reinstated the online cancellation option?!
