For the benefit of those of you not subscribed to BA spam, there’s a new initiative, Avios only flights. Shame they can’t fix all the broken stuff instead of launching new things… anyway, text below, you need the rewards app (not BAEC app) to book.

In true pioneering spirit, we’re launching flights exclusively for Executive Club Members. For the very first time, a whole British Airways plane will be available for reward seats – all 140 of them.

What better way to launch Avios-Only flights than on a brand new route to Sharm El-Sheikh this November, or a year-round favourite like Geneva in February? With a reward seat in Euro Traveller starting from just £1 + 18,500 Avios return, your next getaway could be closer than you think.

With more destinations to be announced via the Executive Club Reward app, make sure you have it downloaded. It’s the first place you’ll find out when the next Avios-Only flight is coming.

These are the flights your Avios were waiting for.

I noticed this as well, of course certainly opens up availability for Avios to those destinations.
Looks like a good way to drive adoption of the rewards App, which I dont have yet.

Very thoughtful of BA to host a HfP get together.

Lauch avios only flights to Cape Town, Sydney and other gold dust redemption destinations and then I will start to get interested!

Some unique flights may be interesting too – places BA don’t normally fly. A one-off winter flight to Lapland? Or a weekend in Girona? Something you couldn’t buy with cash would make the concept a bit more interesting.

There’s an article up now: https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/04/13/ba-launches-avios-only-flights/

This could be the start of regular promotions I hope.
