My youngest son is half year through his BA free card, and has spent a considerable amount. So much so that he would like to upgrade to the BA Premium card. Question..would his current spend amount be carried over to the Premier card if accepted ?
@Mikeact I was in the same position as your son about 5 years ago and when I upgraded I specifically asked on the Amex live chat if my spend would be carried over to the BAPP (as I had already spent over £10k on the free card). They said that it would indeed be carried over and my 241 voucher triggered as soon as Amex processed the upgrade. Not sure if anything has changed since but would recommend you clarifying with Amex and taking a screenshot of their written communication so you have something to fall back onto.
Yes – though there’s an IT glitch with the 241, it might post as the free version and need amending by Amex, there’s more detail on this in the BA Amex upgrading-type threads.
As others have said the spend will carry over but due to the change between the blue and app vouchers, it would be better to upgrade before you hit the 10k spend as the voucher may otherwise post as a blue one and need intervention to be changed.
