In October 2021 I booked £1800 of BA flights for December 2021 through my work travel agent.
In November 2021 my plans changed, and I needed to use the BA Book with Confidence scheme. However, my company had changed official travel agent and so the travel agent would no longer assist me. I rang BA directly and they converted my ticket to a voucher.
Realising the opportunities were now limited, I attempted today to redeem the voucher. The original agent would not assist me as my company stopped working with them over 19 months ago, and the BA Silver Ticket line would not assist me as I had not booked directly. After a long discussion with the offshore BA call centre manager, he agreed to my suggestion that I ring Amex and conduct a Section 75 chargeback.
Amex were very organised and have raised the dispute, but I am concerned about any long term impact on my relationship with BA, am I at risk of getting black listed? Or being unable to use my BA Amex for further bookings?
The BA offshore manager suggested the dispute may not even be with BA, and instead with the original travel agent, but the charges are on my credit card statement under British Airways and I received the enhanced points for the spend.
Any advice gratefully received!
So your work travel agent booked the ticket for you? The question is, did they go to the BA website and type your card details in, or did they book through their own systems? You need to check exactly what your statement says, maybe there is a merchant code you can share here?
If it is NOT BA then definitely proceed with S75, as it will be nothing to do with BA and won’t affe t your relationship.
Booked through their systems via Concur, not sure I have the actual statement from 2021 – will go digging
BA are very unlikely to black list you for a single one off claim of that looks to be a complex but valid one.
It may depend if they actually got the cash or not or if it’s still sitting with the previous agency your firm used.
