I’m currently sat in Brioche Doree next to gate 14 on my own as BA have decided it is not worth the money giving business class passengers lounge access, I asked at checkin and they gave me a voucher for 52 Ron.s and explained why. The checkin agent confirmed that they have decided not to renew the contract with the lounge. Therefore if you check in electronically and go through security and passport control expecting lounge access you will be disappointed. Go to manual checkin and get a voucher it buys you a cheese and ham croissant and a cup of coffee. Happy travels 😀😀😀
It’s a few years since I last flew out of OTP but I don’t recall the lounge being anything special. I would probably be OK with a voucher worth £8-£9 given I’d likely be originating there hence not sitting around for hours…
What if there is a delay are you are indeed sitting around for hours and need a socket, a seat and a coffee?
The voucher is new, so count yourself lucky!
Back in September, all I got was an insulting non-apology from BA Customer Relations.
Morning all! I was wondering if anyone has been through OTP recently? There this week and the Oneworld lounge finder is suggesting the MasterCard Business Lounge is available only to Qatar passengers? LoungeBuddy, however, seems to think we may be able to get into the TAROM lounge. Or is it still a voucher situation? Flying BA in J, EC silver.
I flew from OTP in May.
There is no lounge access with BA status. You get a 52 RON voucher (if you poke the agent at check in which I did by asking about the lounge…) valid at one sandwich shop (Brioche Doree). Cannot use it for alcoholic drinks. Sandwiches and non-alcoholic drinks only.
Maybe too many people were just using that route to earn TPs and abuse the T3 CX lounge hehe

Makes no difference as it’s the return lounge. Normally is the last stage of the negotiation process
The 52 Ron has to be spent on one go, and bizarrely you can’t add money to it – apparently a decision made by BA!
I don’t think there’s a priority pass lounge there either.

Brilliant 🙂

What does that mean? If you want something that costs 53 lei you can’t use the voucher at all?
Anyone tried flashing their new Barclaycard Avios MC to gain access?

From what I can work out it seems to be limited to Romanian / Eastern European-issued cards.
Can confirm we were issued vouchers for 52 RON each which, at Brioche Doree, buy you exactly one sandwich + a bottle of water.
Got to say OTP really is a dump and a stark contrast to Bucharest, which we loved. The Athenee Palace Hilton is nearing completion of the refurb and will become an IC in January – it’s going to be excellent IMHO, probably comparable to the Sofia IC. The exterior is now done, the rooms are also done (and brilliant), just the public areas as missing.
I can’t resist mentioning Therme Bucharest – what an amazing place! It will be fun to have one of these in the UK, even if a bit further out in Manchester.

Exactly that. Buy something costing less than 52 lei and you get no change. Buy something costing more and you can’t use the voucher.
That sounds like it was designed in an old Communist system.

It’s the combination of French-owned Brioche Doree and our very own BA, so a purely capitalist child. But, of course, you can get the sandwich + water on the voucher and then add whatever else you wish as a separate transaction.
The voucher is Brioche Dorée obly?
Yes, definitely.
Pleased to report that, having reviewed this discussion ahead of time, i checked in Club Europe at Otopani Airport, Bucharest this noon and was issued an invitation to a lounge upstairs above Gate 3. So someone has listened. Enjoy 🙂
That’s good to know. Until recently you could only access with a Romanian issued MC. I notice now you can also pay €45 for entry!

I’d checked in online and went straight to the Tarom lounge above gate 3. The girl wrote my name and flight number on a bit of paper and I’m now enjoying a beer!
