Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA Club to Sydney- seat booking

    Hi
My wife and I are travelling GLA- LHR- SYD BA 15 29/08/2023; return SYD-LHR-GLA BA 16 27/09/2023; Club; 787- 9 so not Club Suite.
The costs of booking seats are between £90 and £111 per person per leg which is excessive. However, particularly on the return leg, there are very few 2 seat together window/aisle combinations showing as available.
This is likely to be the longest flight we ever take and although I suspect much of our time will be movie watching and sleeping, we would like to be seated together.

I have seen on this site where kind members have in some way been able to access information on whether the seats that show as not available to purchase have been pre- allocated- so perhaps to us.

Is anyone able please either to direct me to the site, or even better tell me if many seats have been allocated?

    Thanks in anticipation.
    Andrew

As far as I can see on the outbound leg there are 6 window pairs available now, none blocked / held.

For the inbound you’re right and there are only 2 window pairs available to be selected (13A/B, 13J/K). One other pair has both seats blocked out (7J/K, last row of smaller forward cabin so could be crew rest?) and another pair has one open seat (10K) and one blocked (10J).

    Hi Andrew,

We are off to Oz on the 24th August, on the 789. It is the first time we have paid for seats – 13a and 13K.

It is 23.5 hrs in the aircraft (with a quick break in Singapore)

Neither of us wants to be in an aisle seat and bumped into by other passengers. So no “couples pairs” for us.

Neither of us wants to climb over someone to get out our seats and feel guilty about waking someone!

So the seat choice was limited to 7A (&K is crew rest), 13A & K, and the middle E seats in rows 7 and 13.

For £100 each, we felt it was a bargain! And no worries about sitting together.

Note: 10 B & J are bassinet seats, so may be available at last minute if no babies. Pretty sure 7J is also blocked as crew rest.

I see row 13 A&B and J&K are both available on the return – £95 each.

Grab them! Either the pairs, or the two window seats.
