If I booked Qatar flights LHR to Zanzibar via the BA website would I earn BA tier points and avios?
Also I have looked at booking the same flights on the Qatar and BA websites. For two return business class flights booking via BA is £2,500 cheaper. Is that normal? I would have thought booking direct with Qatar would have been cheaper.
QR is a member of the OW alliance, so yes to TPs earning.
The BA flight number may have different booking classes to the QR classes and the cheaper BA ones may just not yet be sold out.
Friend flying London Adelaide return on Qatar on Saturday. BA avios/tier point calculator says avios but 0 tier points. This was his previous experience. Just checking if this is correct as this thread says otherwise.

Rubbish – will credit fine as long as his ticket is in a sub-class which earns tier points, which it should be.
Thanks Rob, his ticket was booked by his company and is out in J, back in D. Have just logged into Qatar and put his BA number into his booking. That should be it I guess, maybe that bit was wrong last time.
I flew this past summer to DAR and back on BA booked/Qatar operated flights. The flights to/from Doha were code share and posted both the right TP and Avios (including the expected bonus for status). The onwards flights to DAR and back were QR codes only, still posted the right TP but no bonus Avios. I hope this helps.
NB: worth checking what planes are operating the flights you are looking at. Qatar operates a number of planes to/from Tanzania, including narrow bodies.
PS: I love Zanzibar and return there quite often, try to get a boat tour around Mnemba island, with snorkelling gear.

For peace of mind he could also search for the same booking from the BA site/app (although it should appear automatically in MMB once he has added his BAEC number). I did that last time and tracked the same booking on both my BA app and Qatar app. You will have to use the Qatar app /website to select seats though.
Beware. I upgraded a revenue flight with QR using avios, and have got no TPs or avios for the flight (I should have got the originally booked fare, not the upgraded class). Seems IT does not communicate properly between the airlines
