Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Companion voucher extension

  • 1 post

I have recently upgraded from the free Amex card to the premium plus, and I am certain I saw that you could ring a number to request for the extension of any existing companion vouchers from 12 months to 24 months. Now I can’t find that number and the person I spoke to at Amex said she hadn’t heard of it. I am aware of a new ‘Clause 27’ to get a 3 month extension, however this was linked to the upgrade. Can anyone help please?

You can’t increase the validity of all existing vouchers from 12 to 24 months simply by upgrading to the BA Premium Plus card.

What you can do is spend over £10k on the free Amex and then upgrade to the BAPP to immediately trigger the issuing of the 2-4-1 voucher valid for 24 months. If you do that then occasionally the validity only initially shows as 12 months but you can then call Amex to get the validity changed to 24 months.

It is better to upgrade to the BAPP when you are just below £10k and then spend the necessary to get over that sum to trigger the voucher

Rob did an article recently on a new policy to extend 241 vouchers by 3 months in certain circumstances, but this has to go via BA.

What do you mean about the “upgrade”, is this to do with the Barclays voucher? Do you have a link to that, I’ve not heard of it?
