Hi, can anyone confirm if you are able to use a BA companion voucher to fly return to a country but where all airports used are different? I want to fly from London Heathrow to Mexico City and return from Cancun to London Gatwick. Does anyone know if this is allowed using a BA Companion Voucher? Thanks in advance.
Yes, that is allowed.
I used a companion voucher last May to Fly Inverness – Miami and then back from Barbados to Glasgow.
Only issue is you need to phone up as you can’t book open jaws online

Ah brilliant. Thank you very much
I haven’t checked the specifics, but the one rule that can make an open jaw not possible is that the distance between first arrival airport and second departure airport has to be the shortest distance, ie if you fly from A to B and want to return from C to A, then the distance between B and C has to be the shortest of A-B, B-C and C-A.
Hope that makes sense!
Thought I’d ask a question on the same thread since it’s the same topic. can I fly from London to LA and then Doha back to London?
I’m not the greatest at geography but I think that would be no, because of the distances involved! (See the comment above yours)
Thanks a lot! @northernlass
The Great Circle Mapper is your friend:
LHR DOH 103° (E) 103° (E) 3,261 mi
DOH LAX 350° (N) 348° (N) 8,306 mi
LAX LHR 034° (NE) 023° (NE) 5,456 mi
So, sorry to be insecure but can I do the following trip with the 2-4-1?
MEX-MAD-LHR
then
MAD-SCL?
Looks like I can, though when i talk to BA I need some reassurance they will understand.
Mileage between MEX and SCL is shortest
Thanks
If you’ve got the time and patience to go through the long thread on booking the return part of the 241, there’s a lot of info on this type of routing.
You should only need to speak to BA to add the return leg, but there’s a chance you may get an agent who doesn’t know the new rules, however most people seem to have been able to do this without any issues.

Thanks for the reply.
I did look at that thread-maybe I missed it- but only saw this one with the answer to my question. I am looking for recent examples of people succeeding in doing this.
To add to the problem, IB flights post OCT 26th are not showing up on BA, so I may have to add the return at a later date, which I read can add its own complications!
I think it’s somewhere in here:
