Hi All HFP users As we now know then IHG car is ending and for the past week I have been using my MBNA Horizon Cash Back Card. I have shopped in the main grocery’s shops and amazon transactions. Can any one comment on the smart rewards offers it they provide any good deals. The MBNA Horizon Cash Back Card only gives 0.5 cash back. I used the IHG card for all my No Amex places which are very few now.

I have my chase card with 1 percent back plus round ups, do you think the MBNA Horizon Cash Back Card with smart rewards is better then the chase card with Smart rewards. Any Exp from SMart rewards would be great.

They are predominantly the standard Sports Loyalty rebates that are white labelled across various brands, although generally limited to £30 max with LBG.

I’ve 60 offers on MBNA at the moment. Some I will use. Argos, IHG, Dunelm, and many more I won’t.

Not sure the point of the question though, the MBNA card is a long term keeper for as long as the benefits remain unchanged. Use the Credit Card or Debit card appropriately when they deliver the best balance of security and rebate.

Thanks Andrew, I just got my first smart reward. It 10 percent back at Card Factory. I really want to know how there algorithm works. I did not spend in card factory, i wish it could be shop based rewards any grocery store would be Ideal right now with cost of living. I will spend up to £50.00 and see what I get, if there bad I just use the Chase card. I keep the MBNA as a back up card with me for any situation. Both card are no fx chargers, so that a benefit. If I go away on holiday and buy anything I want protection on I use the MBNA. I am going to also cancel my IHG card as I have used the points and only have 17K left and a free night that is in my IHG account so they can not take that away.

The only supermarket I’ve had on my MBNA ona regular basis is for Morrisons and that’s only if I do the shop via Amazon and have prime. Waitrose appears every now and then but I’ve not seen e.g. ASDA, Sainburys or Tesco/

I’ve never really thought about an algorythm on offers but just look at what they present to me.

If you’ve only just got the card then ot may be that offers just take a time to populate.

And remeber you have to opt in to these offers so you need to have a look on a regular basis and many of them are once only use until they appear next so use them wisely.

It’s a free card with 0.5% cashback and 0% FX fees (which combine). It shows no sign of going away, and if you chop it you might regret it in a year or two when Chase scrap the 1%.

Hi Everyone Thanks for your comments. I have kept the gotten a few good cash-back offers now after using the card a few times but most of them are very similar to Amex offers I do not use. MBMA has a constant offer with Amazon with video, music and fresh for their online groceries with Morrisons and Co-Op. Apart from that the offers are bad. I have used the MBNA card to pay my Council Tax and Dental and a few other things that the Chase card does not allow me to get the 1 percent on. Back in May, I had my implant and Chase did not offer the one percent so I used the MBNA card and paid that off and got a nice Caash back amount on the MBNA card.

Also thank you @Rob for commenting on my Post its an honour to have you comment on my post, and I am thankful for everyone’s input as well. It’s a community for enthusiastic people looking for points, cash back and the best bottom line.

The MBNA offers are useless – I think I only ever used one and that was a purchase for my wife (Coach) although it did generate £50+ so can’t complain.

The Virgin Money ones seem more relevant to me although I don’t seem to be actually claiming many, so perhaps not!

Amex is substantially better than both for my lifestyle.
