Hi,
I’m trying to book flight + car package with BA to USA in club world and would like to take the opportunity of double tier point offer. The BA holidays search including custom trip option throws up connecting flights on return with first domestic leg in economy saying the business class is not available on the flight. If I select first class, it shows super expensive connecting flights with first class only with no club world option.
I am able to get same flights with business class in flight only and then adding car at the end. Infact, it lets me pick one leg in first too for slight uptick in price.
My question is if the latter approach qualify for the double tier point offer. I can see that I don’t get deposit option on the latter approach either. I’m happy to pay the full upfront but don’t want to be fall foul of some stupid T&C disqualifying me from the promotional offer.
Kindly advise.
Phone up and book it. Unlike regular BA, holidays team answer the phone quickly and do exactly what you want. Then it will definitely qualify.
There is a complex holidays itineraries tool which should also enable you to do what you want online — sorry, I didn’t book mark it.
Are you selecting each flight individually on the custom trip page? If you do this, you will be able to select from the list of domestic connections BA makes available for BA holidays and might find something more suitable.
This is assuming you mean UK domestic connections. Just be aware that if you’re using US domestic flights, they don’t all qualify for double TPs (think they have to have a BA flight number to count).
Each leg needs to have a BA flight number to count towards the double tiers point. Your best option is to use a system such as ITA matrix to price it and then call BA, provide the flight # and then add a car and see what quote they come up with (it is not always the same price or even possible).
Can you get it by building a custom trip in the “old UI” tool?
That lets you select each set of flights it’s found, in turn, and will then show alternatives with lower/higher cost (sometimes shockingly lower cost for very little change in time/comfort).
