BA dropping tier points on Flights & Holidays?

I had to change a booking for a holiday where previously it was showing 40 points to be awarded but now its showing 30 points. I noticed the same for a flight I booked to Malta next year showing 30 tier points which doesn’t make sense since lowest is 10 tier points — which therefore means 20 points in total — and I had booked a Economy Plus ticket.

In addition, I noticed that the Economy Plus is now in the same ticketing class as Economy Basic which doesn’t seem right to me – thoughts ?

Are you talking per segment or per booking?

I am not aware of any route awarding 30 TP per segment (usual Economy TP are 5, 10, 20, 35, 40 and 70)

On a particular route (5-10-20) maybe you had a flexible low fare both ways (40tp in total) and now you got a low (10tp) on one segment, probably the one changed, and 20tp still on the other segment).

Again, Malta is on a 10-20-40 route in economy, so one segment could be on lowest fare and the other on the middle fare.. I have had that on many booking, not necessarily HBO (one way was lowest fare and the other was middle fare category).

Economy basic (HBO) and Economy Plus can still both give you the minimum TP or the middle one. On a recent trip to Dublin, booking in HBO, I have had 5TP on the outbound and 10tp on the inbound. On an Economy plus booking fee months ago, I also got 15TP overall.

What fare class are you referring to?

Thanks for the link. It’s not showing me the ticket type anymore on my account just the number of Tier points to be earned – but I suspect your deduction is correct.that one ticket type might be O and the other in the range above.
So now there’s really no way to earn full tier points in Economy unless you buy a flexible ticket. I used to buy Economy Plus and would earn more than if I was to get Economy Basic – same with the holiday bookings as well

Yes, that is another bit of info that was ‘enhanced’ away.

If you go into Manage My Booking, for the flight in question, you should see ‘go back to previous design’ at the top of the page. You can find out the booking class from there, by clicking the flight sector, then ‘More flight information’.
