Does anyone know when BA announced they were refunding these vouchers within 30 days ?
They were only refunding the ones that were issued illegally.
The rest run on and – based on discussion at the 2022 financial results presentation two weeks ago – it looks like BA is going to expire them in September and pocket £500m.
Just expire then? Blimey — that’s a ballsy move if they do so.
They really don’t give a toss about their public profile if that’s seriously considered as an option.

It’s what most high street retailers and gift card providers rely upon and they don’t contact people to remind people to use them. I think the above £500m relates to the IAG albeit BA is a huge part of it. They are probably hoping that if people were foolish enough to take a voucher, they might forget about them and/or that a voucher for flights at covid prices doesn’t buy you a replacement at today’s prices.
BA are sending reminders about them though.
Someone mentioned it this very day

This is true, but they don’t wipe out a whole pile of vouchers in one day, and they don’t hand out vouchers in lieu of refunds during the pandemic to support their cashflow.
It’s also true that many retailers will extend vouchers on request for a few more years, sometimes even after they have expired. The reason for expiry is — AFAIK — just to ensure there isn’t a large and endlessly growing liability on the books. They don’t want any bad feeling growing from customers who find an old unused voucher, or one close to expiry, for the sake of the face value which they have already received. Morrissons are a notable exception, their expired vouchers are useless and they do not extend them.

I know he has a lot on his plate, but has anyone tipped off Martin Lewis? He’ll have a field day with this…
If you call to book a BA holiday, and attempt to pay with a flight only voucher they may….offer to take payment via credit card and refund your FTV to the original payment card associated with it. YMMV but it worked for me. Refund takes a few weeks to arrive.

Not everyone wants this because they bought flights using double value Avios they then cancelled for vouchers.
