I have a business trip that I need to book for the 5-6th of the same month my tier point collection year ends.
I was considering extending the trip to have a few days networking and exploring, so considered doing a BA holiday to get double tier points. If I did this, and the return date was the 9th, would the tier points be added to this year or next years collection?
The bonus tier points would be useful next year, this year not so much. So if the points would be added to this year then I will not bother going for the extra days.
I did try to search the forum for this, as I think I saw this being asked before, but the search does not seem to be working well.
It’s been raised several times in the master double tier points offer thread.
Flights that take place on or after the 9th of the month will credit to your new year.
Lat last year although I had a BA holiday timed to end in the 8th of the month of my year end the double TPs credited into my new year.
Thanks for that, that helps me in my planning.
So what I am taking away from this is the actual flight tier points for each leg will be credited in the relevant year, but the double BA holiday boost for the trip (both flights) will likely come in the new year due to the return flight being in the new year.
I did try checking the master thread before posting, but the search function was not working.

Interesting as I’m sure I have read elsewhere that the Double TP’s are credited to the collection year of the outbound flight (at least they were) and then you can ring up to have the double TP’s of the return in the new collection year (if the return flight fell into the new year). Who knows though as it seems to be a bit different for everyone. Then also as it can take 14 days it all ends up being in the new year.
