Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Holidays – payment of balance

  • 10 posts

I have a BA holiday booking where the original flight has been cancelled. The replacement flight is no good. I want a refund of my deposit, however after days of trying I have been unable to get through to the contact centre. My final balance has to be paid in a few days time. I clearly don’t want to pay for this, but I’m unsure if BA will automatically debit my credit card on the due date with the final payment. Does anyone know what happens here?
As an aside – I’ve got numerous flights to book (£000’s), I dread to think of the lost revenue to BA due to their non existent call centre resulting in people looking elsewhere to book!!

Payimg the balance is proactive in that you have to do it and not reactive in BA just taking it.

Have you tried emailing BA Holidays? They are a lot better than BA themselves at sorting this stuff out. Alternatively, if it’s a smallish deposit, and you’re planning future bookings, you could request a FTV online.

@Northernlass – do you have an email for BA Holidays, I’ve searched all over their web site and cant find one. Thanks

Try baholidays@ba.com, but you should also have an email confirmation from when you originally booked.

Try this duty.office@holidays.ba.com, tends to get a quick response

Have used both those emails since December and received no response. The latter seems to be used internally for on-the-day travel snafus.

If you don’t pay the balance, the booking will simply auto-cancel. Then comes the fun of trying to get your deposit back. I received an automated rejection of my deposit refund claim despite my cancellation being due to flight date changes that could only be accepted online, and not rejected. I’ve just added it to the neverending list of monies to chase from BA. (And no, Amex won’t dispute any transactions these days as it claims there’s “no evidence” BA has done anything wrong…)

Tried calling them? I’ve been on the phone with them a few times in the last few weeks and the wait time wasn’t that bad. About 30-40mins for the UK BA Holidays and 5mins for EU BA Holidays (Bremen). They can sort out the deposit refund within minutes.

Good idea – back in Dec/Jan they simply weren’t taking calls as there were too many, they just hung up. Will try again…
