BA inbound flight for Companion Voucher

Can anyone advise if it is still possible to use and book Amex Premium Companion voucher for outbound flight (will be looking at LHR-CPT for Oct 24) on day it becomes available using 100,000 Avios – then book the return online using 200,000 Avios on date it becomes available (rather than trying to call BA at 0100 etc) – and then call and get bookings linked and have 100,000 Avios refunded.

I did this pre-Covid but despite searching can find no definitive answer on whether this still works?

Any guidance appreciated.
