Hi
It’s been a while since we have flown from LGW and BA. We have a 0615 flight to ALC in CE and have just noticed the lounge opens at 0500. How long are we likely to get in the lounge before being called to board I can’t remember how early BA board. Also roughly how far is the lounge from BAs short hall gates if they have regular ones please.
Many thanks R
I would aim to be walking out of the lounge before 0530. Some of the gates are a long walk away, the furthest up to 15 minutes.
Not sure if it’s still like this but the screens don’t show the gate until 40 minutes before and then they just say go to gate automatically regardless of what is actually happening, that is to say, the actions of the gate agents don’t affect what is shown on the screens unless there is a substantial delay

Thanks for this that gives us 30mins for some breakfast. Is the CE short hall catering still limited.
We flew LGW to TFS last week; we actually got a menu! 3 choices: full English, frittata or cold cuts together with the usual suspects of fruit salad, yoghurt with muesli, bread, croissants….

We’re on that morning flight later in the week – I didn’t know what the Band 4 breakfast from LGW but sounds similar. What is/was the weather like there?

Tenerife sunny but breezy – T-shirts during the day, with fleece in the evenings. Up in the hills on Gran Canaria now and it’s cold, wet and bloomin’ miserable. Off to Costa Adeje on Thursday and hopefully a bit of sun.

CE onboard is pretty much back to normal. No hot towels, at least as of 3-4 weeks ago, instead a Dettol wipe.
Overall I’d say the ‘new normal’ in CE (whether LGW or LHR) has suffered from penny pinching. Portions seem smaller and choices less appealing – though obviously that’s personal – I’m not a big eater but I’ve taken to eating more beforehand or carrying a roll or sandwich on longer flights.
