-
Flying Iberian the other night out of T5, the lounge computer kept flagging us as denied entry. We were flying Iberian Business crediting BA and both BA Silver, but paper and electronic boarding passes for both of us were denied. The lounge agent tried various computer options but eventually gave up trying and just flagged us in.
Any ideas what might have caused it? Didn’t matter in the end, but would rather avoid.
Too little too late, I know, but you need to complain to BA. On EU routes such as LON-MAD for example it is normally 10k avios per person compensation for denied lounge access. Clearly a very wrong decision by BA not to let you in. You should also complain to Iberia in addition to BA.
I think they did actually let @masaccio in eventually, in a commendable display of common sense!
@Northernlass It will never catch on, I’d still complain because of the emotional trauma. Imagine having to wait for lukewarm wine and plastic sandwiches.
Good to know about the compensation options for next time. I think if there hadn’t been a queue of people waiting I might have been turned away. Or maybe it was showing him my status in the app that did it.

And that’s before you even enter the lounge!
The cava in the Madrid lounge was streets ahead of the fizz in the LHR B lounge, even the stuff you ask for (is it really champagne?) As for Whispering Angel, I just can’t see what the fuss is all about.
It’s starting to feel like anti-Hispanic discrimination, can’t select seats on IB, can’t get in the T5 lounge, ay caramba!
I’m with you on Whispering Angel, all style over substance.
Oh yeah had a glass(few sips) of WA and wow what a load of rubbish
Not sure what they are bringing out is champagne but whatever it is, it’s poor. There was some other sparking in an ice bucket on the bar closet to the buffet in T5B.
Tbh the spirit selection was actually pretty good so I was happy and the Jude’s salted caramel hit the spot.

There are unfortunately far too many of these brands offering products/services of very little intrinsic merit or underlying quality at silly prices to people sucked in by effective marketing – eg the White Company, Jo Malone, Veuve Clicquot, Whispering Angel, The Ivy (who join the party by offering to sell you a glass of WA for £17 or the bargain bottle at £67, plus service).

Yes, but you knew that @Strickers, as soon as you read the Press Release.
An extract of it was served up by Rob here in an article for our delectation.
Even by the standards of travel industry Press Releases, it was a huge chunk of flowery hyperbole. So you knew that about the wine, you didn’t have to drink it (or even sniff it).
My wife was initially taken in by the hype and was excited to see the Whispering Angel display at T5B. I dutifully went off to get her a glass, she couldn’t finish it, this is very rare so it must be tosh.

They removed Haribo bears jar and percy pigs from T5B. These were my little treats.
One of my son’s flatmates works for Pernod-Ricard and was telling me how certain companies buy bang average wine and put much more effort/££ into marketing to create a WA type buzz.
Following a previous discussion on here I took the advice and bought 12 bottles of Waitrose Guigal Côtes de Rhône Rosé (£13.49) for a small afternoon gathering recently which proved such a success that I’ve only one bottle left. Other alcohol options were available but my lot seemed to like it!

Yes, sorry for that. I ditched all the clothes in my carry-on in the bin and filled it up with those. 😁 😁
