Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA on time performance initiative

  • 7 posts

I read somewhere that Sean Doyle is driving actions and initiatives to improve On Time performance. Having just completed a return trip to LAS where 3 out of the 4 flights pushed back early (!), I wondered if anyone can share what initiatives are being looked at and if any are already implemented.

in recent years, none of my domestic or international flights had been on time (Vancouver consistently the worst by far for me), so was this trip just lucky or are things starting to make a real difference?

    Last year!

It was discussed as part of the IAG capital markets day presentations.

Basically a root and branch look at delays and what causes them and how they can try and eliminate them.

How to reduce or eliminate a lot of them at LHR:

    > have enough properly trained ground crew
    > Train the cabin crew and gate agents properly
    > Invest in decent ish IT
    > Have spare equipment such as buses and ambulifts to deal with a sudden surge of aircraft due to disruption

The delays that are BAs fault are mainly down to budget cuts in my opinion. This programme is just trying to correct bad decisions

But what about delays caused/exacerbated at the destination airports? IE, YVR in my experience, makes late arriving aircraft even worse for delay to return to LHR. is this looking at what these airports are doing/ causing extended delays?
