Hello – I have just booked a one way LGW-BRI ticket for the summer using a couple 2*1 vouchers. Return is via Ryanair as no availability on convenient dates or times.
There is a possibility we may go to Madrid over Christmas. My question is about whether MAD-London would be allowable to book as the return leg of the original LGW-BRI ticket, and therefore take advantage of the companion voucher? I understand the criteria is that the distance between ie BRI and MAD must be smaller than that between LGW and BRI. I have looked on a couple of websites that measure distance between airports and weirdly its exactly the same – 1062 miles- for both legs.
Do you have any thoughts as to whether this would be allowed? How does BA measure the distances?
The IATA rule is that the ‘surface’ sector must not be greater than either flight and I think Madrid > London is shorter than Madrid > Bari?
