Looking for some advice please.
As per my on-line statement within the companion voucher section it states the following :-
“Spend £597 by 09 Feb 2024 to receive your Companion Voucher”.
I have now spent this on a BA flight – I am just waiting for the pending transactions to change to processed, probably overnight.
So my plan was to grab the voucher and then downgrade my account from the BA Premium Plus Credit Card to the BA Free card and save the £250 membership card fee for this year.
It seems however that on the 15th January I have already been billed the £250 fee when I was expecting this would not kick in until the 9th Feb.
I understand BA no longer give refunds on the membership fees so am I stuck now with the £250 fee or is there a way around it, now that BA have invoiced it on my statement earlier than expected
Amex is still offering pro-rata refunds until at least 29 Feb so you are OK on that front. Amex usually bills the fee in the statement before the anniversary as 9 Feb falls before your next statement date. It’s just that your statement date is a bit further away from anniversary date than some which makes it stand out.
