It usually works for me, although I’ve had a couple of recent shops at John Lewis and Waterstones fail to track because my phone has opened up the app for each retailer rather than carry through to the website.
I’ve used it at least a dozen times for John Lewis, my phone diverts me to the app every time, and it tracks every time, so I can’t agree that the app in itself is your problem, there must be something else.
It seems to have worked for me too. Did a few transactions on Viator recently and all of them have been ‘tracked’ at least. Will wait to see when the points get credited.
I have a linked question – in your experience, do you think they actually implement the condition that if you use a promo code while booking then you are not eligible for Avios?
I recently booked on Viator using a referral code but the transaction has still been tracked. Does that mean it’s gone through their system now, or can they still discredit the transaction?
Has anyone noticed the offer on the e-store which is spend £40 three times before 22nd April on new retailers and you get 3,000 bonus points. Seems decent.
Bit of a rubbish deal for those already using the app. Terms and conditions say this:
• The offer is only available to new customers. A new customer is one who has never made a transaction with a “Collect online” or “Collect in-store” merchant via Shopping through British Airways (www.shopping.ba.com) or with a “Shopping online” or “Shopping in-store” merchant via the Avios app before. Customers who have made a previous transaction that was cancelled are ineligible.
I wonder if I use my partners phone and download the app with no previous history (secondary card holder) it will work.
Anyone used this with Vision Direct?
My first order in March is still sat in pending and second tracked but not in pending
The BA shopping portal has a life of its own. I bought travel insurance(with Allclear) for three trips to Milan, Lisbon and Dublin over the last 6 weeks. All the purchases where made through BA’s portal. So far only one has tracked and paid out, the trip to Lisbon. 87 Avios to a premium of £45 when it should have been 10x the premium. It is still showing on the portal as this reward amount. Then there was a purchase with JD sports last summer, a pair of trainers which again has tracked but not paid out nearly 5 months later. Its about time BA where pulled up about all of the issues it has with its portal. There is no responsibility between BA or the retailer to actually ensure genuine purchases which meet the criteria are paid out in good time. And the customer service is non existent. For such a major brand to hide behind the curtains of a website with no accountability is mind blowing.
You are aware that if you click ‘no cookies’ when landing on the retailer website then you forfeit your money with the 30% or so of retailers who still use old cookie tracking techniques?
I’ve noticed that all the speedy award retailers have disappeared. They paid Avios within 5 days or so max. Now my points are sat in ‘pending’ but my experience is some of these statuses never change. They’re paying 50% extra Avios on transactions again which they did last year, it’s pretty decent.
I’ve found that the large amounts sit in pending which is extra frustrating.

I always accept cookies. Just done another travel insurance policy for my mother it was a hefty premium with and has already tracked at 12x. It’s with goodtogo who paid out super quick last year.
