Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA Silver status for 2 years after BA changed the tier point year dates?

Forgive me for asking, I’m sure all the information is out there somewhere but I have to admit I’ve a dull throbbing in my head now trying to work this all out.

I signed up for BA Executive club in Dec ’23. My first travel will be a trip to Thailand in June ’24 that will earn me more than the 500 tier points needed for silver status. It is my understanding that I would gain this status after the trip and that my year end would changed to July 31st 2025 upon my return.

However I’m unsure how long this status would last as I’ve read that when you first gain status, you keep this for 2 years. So my understanding currently is that I would have Silver status – assuming I don’t get gold within the year – for 2 years until 31st August 2026 including there grace period.

Now imagine my additional confusion when BA emailed to say they were changing the membership year dates just a month after booking the trip.

Could a kind and more clued-up person tell me when my status will start and end?

    Any help is much appreciated!

You need 600 TPs for silver.

Since you travel in June 2024 your TPs will be first counted for your Dec 23 to 24 year and then once again when they change the system in April 2025 (they will count all the TPs from April 2024 to March 2025).

500TP’s was a typo, I should have 640 TP’s by the end of the trip.

Just to clarify. I’ll gain silver until December 24, soft land to bronze until April 25 and then regain silver for 2025/6? Would this still be the case even if this is the first time I have gained status with BA as my understanding was you gain for the remainder of the current year plus the whole of the next year?
