Ugh I don’t know what to do! Do I trust BA, having be burned by that before or do I not?
I have a pile of e-vouchers worth £800 left over from that 2p per avios thing in August 2021. I have already used some previously against a holiday I booked to Marrakech last year, but since then I’ve been led to believe (by anecdotal evidence here) that this was no longer allowed and they were strictly for flight only bookings.
Yesterday I thought I’d both email them and DM them via Twitter to make absolutely sure it wasn’t poss as I’d rather book a holiday and use them on that.
Twitter bod has got back to me just now saying I can.
Yet I don’t want to go and book and holiday and ring up to pay the balance with vouchers to be told to bog off and that the previous response was the result of ‘poor training’. They did this to me 18 months ago when they told me I could rebook a CPT flight after ticket validity had expired so I didn’t use it in time believing I had 4 more months to do so. They told me I could by both phone and Twitter and when I went to rebook they simply said no and that their agents had both been mistaken. Decisions, decisions.
I think you’d be lucky for this to work, quite a few sharing same experience as me, this is response from BA Hols to my question.
“Thank you for your email.
Just to let you know the process has changed now and your voucher(s) are now refunded to your original form of payment used to pay for your original booking and no deduction made on your BA Holidays booking.
Please confirm you are happy for us to go ahead and we will action this for you.”
They did at least give me the option to retain them, but that doesn’t work for me as no new bookings planned at this point, too much already booked. 3x Vouchers were 1x cash only and 2x Cash and Avios. I have received two lots of Avios being redeposited, but no cash as yet. One cash refund is to active card, but the other two are old and to a long closed BA Prem card.
Ultimately you’re not losing anything as the double Avios and cancel tactic was always a chancers move. For me it worked with lots of other vouchers, I’m almost impressed BA did something this sensible.
