We are waiting for compensation from BA for a 10+ hour delayed flight from MRU TO LGW, plus the extra expenses we incurred. I was careful to give them the correct evidence.
It’s been 3 weeks. How long can I expect to wait ?
Have they actually agreed to pay it? What was the reason for the delay?
They emailed about the delay and told us to arrange our own accomdation and transfers and bill them . The plane that was due to collect us was late leaving Gatwick due technical error.
Three weeks for BA to respond at all, let alone pay, is quite optimistic. If they haven’t responded within four weeks or so (ie allowing a bit for holidays) chase them by responding via the acknowledgement email. If they still don’t respond, which is quite possible send them a formal response saying you initially wrote on x date, no communication save x,y,z and if they don’t confirm the validity of your claim (for which you have already provide the requisite evidence and receipts) and that payment has been instructed within 14 days you will escalate to CEDR or MCOL; that will save the further time delay of a Letter before Claim while giving BA sufficient notice to respond if they were so inclined. There is no logic to BA’s response to claims; they sometimes pay in a few days and sometimes never respond until pressed by a third party.
