The delay for BA207 today is a tech issue and “engineers” are on board. Latest push back is 10.45.
However ALL BA flights from T5 to the USA appear to be delayed today by 30 to 45 mins…….
I know a seat was broken!! 64J I think…..
That would not delay a flight though. BA have dozens of broken seats in the air at any one time!
Todays BA207 arrived in from LAX about 20 hours ago.
BA207 is an A380 service to Miami, tech problems with A380 flights are fairly common.

A380 G-XLEE.

Its not just that tech issues are common (are they?), but when there is an issue they have to wait for it to be fixed. They only have a dozen A380s, so no spare planes to move you to.

Comments elsewhere suggest that A380s being parked during the pandemic was not good for them.
@NorthernLass had a recent poor BA A380 experience.
The A380s are in a bad way and there is at least one long thread on flyertalk about the issues.
Best avoid the A3-latey unless farming UK261.
Yes, were delayed nearly 4 hours last month departing for DXB, multiple tech issues. 6 out of 7 of the same flight had been delayed the previous week. To be fair to BA, our compo arrived only 2 1/2 weeks after submitting the claim, which made up slightly for being refused any F & B while we were trapped on the tarmac, apart from the welcome drink and mini pretzels!
Personally I would be happy with a 3 hour+ delay and £520. Got that on a flight back from LAX in 2017, also on an A380. When they were much newer and hadn’t been mothballed.

At 3h+ you only get £260, you need 4h+ for the full £520 and it presupposes no ‘extraordinary circumstances’. It rather depends how you value your time and what arrangements you have on arrival etc. For a 3h01m delay, £87/hour isn’t really a lot. The extra hour makes a big difference.
