I know this has been discussed a little yesterday but I just wanted to get some thoughts from others as to how they value Avios in general and one or two other things relating to getting to Thailand/Malaysia.
We used a 241 voucher to get to Singapore September in Club Suite. For a couple and a lap infant, am I correct in thinking that because I have 2 Barclays vouchers, it is effectively like having a 241 and would be the same cost of 242k Avios + £1260 in tax MAN-LHR-SIN using the vouchers? I believe if done on the phone the vouchers can be used to combine the domestic leg and the longhaul?
Only have 20k Avios left. I have the option to boost for the remaining 222k Avios needed for the redemption for £2k for 0.92p Avios. So total cash outlay would be around £3260. I remember reading that the A380 now flies the route meaning Club World instead of Club Suite unfortunately.
Is ~£1500pp a good price for Club World MAN-LHR-SIN? I know cash costs are significantly more. There are perhaps slightly lower prices on other airlines Ex-EU but flying direct is definitely an advantage I think.
Would love to get general thoughts and any other considerations that I may have overlooked in terms of getting to the Far East on points or cash.

Barclays voucher requires you to pay the max avios and min surcharges. The avios price is that of PE so not exactly the same as the 241. You save the difference between PE and CW.

Yeah thanks. I checked and premium economy one-way off-peak is 55k LHR-SIN so 110k return which happens to be the same amount if Avios as a 241 in business if I have my numbers correct.
And thanks Aston I hadn’t checked price graph even though I’ve used Google Flights. I guess that answers the question as those prices on the graph are one-way whereas the £1500 I worked out was per person for a return journey.
Hopefully the domestic leg doesn’t add any more Avios and also the lap infant side of things doesn’t cause any issues in terms of getting it all to work and be ticketed with the vouchers.
@s, I take from this you want to go to Thailandand/or Malaysia and therefore SIN is just a means to an end. In this case I would not spend cash chasing the avios route unless you need a flexible ticket. You would need to add cost of travel betwern SIN and Thailand too and some of those fares have been high of late. Therefore I would target £2000pp miles-earning flights from MAN-BKK, preferably with AY as AirLounge is the best flat bed widely available, and you’re guaranteed A350 which is second only to A380.
Have a look at Finn Air UK airports to Bangkok. Cash Prices are very competitive and u will collect avios and tier points.
Thanks to both of you, yeah that’s the sort of thing I was looking at and Singapore being a means to an end.
We really enjoyed our time at Singapore though which is why I don’t mind stopping there again.
I initially just considered Air Asia flights to somewhere like Langkawi to stay at the Datai or St Regis maybe in April if I could somehow find availability.
In terms of the Finnair fares from Manchester, are the lower fares Buisness Light?
