Annoying – seats weren’t held while I went through the booking process. Surely BA hold the seats for a few minutes to allow you to complete??!
No – someone must have been quicker than you! That happened to me once.
That’s really poor. I knew BA IT was bad but didn’t appreciate it was that bad!
On another topic I could only get PE on return. Is it a case of monitoring if any reward seats open up and calling BA to amend the booking if they do?
Lovely 2 booked for 100k + £550 (using Barclays voucher) in Club one way next Feb
No sign on SeatSpy yet, slacking!
BA probably will forget to add BKK and KUL to the API feed anyways 🙂
Well blow me down with a feather, they’ve actually gone and put BKK back on the map. And KL. Christmas has come early.
I sense a lot of pent up demand from Avios collectors to both destinations.Hi is this 100% correct that BA will be operating flights to BKK and on sale tomorrow
Wish to use 2-4-1 should I call after midnight to usa office ?
Why not book it online ?
Only required to call if you’re trying to book something unusual, or trying to get the flights on the newly released date 355 in the future. Probably not required for today’s bulk release.

This happened to me this morning – had quickly to shift the dates.
Really enjoyed reading all the comments at the start of this thread explaining why BA are so commercially savvy to not fly to BKK 🤪
No, they just made choices.
Presumably they had worked their way far enough down their list of most profitable routes, for Bangkok to finally come up.I never underestimate BA. They have their eye firmly on profit. So if they fly a route, it’s the one that would currently get them most profit for the available resource. Not many other reasons.

A seasonal thrice weekly route from Gatwick would suggest rather borderline commercial.

in my defence I also suggested it had previously worked for other airlines from Gatwick, not Heathrow 🙂
BA2230/2231 are not replacements for BA9/10. The latter will return to LHR, daily, and year-round, possibly with a cherry on top.

Happy BKK week, @BJ!!
No thanks @Michael, that’ll be next week when we can hopefully already transfer avios to AY+. I have zero interest in BA from LGW or LHR even with a 2-4-1. The price no longer works relative to revenue or reward flights. My top choice going forward is AY+ AY flights between Zone 1 and Asia for 62.5k avios and pennies in in J. We have friends in Copenhagen, and it’s a useful opportunity to take short breaks in other Zone 1 cities such as Oslo, Stockholm, Tallin etc. Even with the positioning flights to/from EDI we could be looking at BKK and other Asian destinations for the equivalent of as little as £800 each way in J with added benefit of city breaks and visiting friends. I’ve also got used to the QR connections, I now prefer it to LHR especially with the morning flight from EDI. Thus, 75k avios QR J flights where available is my second choice. Third choice will be exEU departures on CX via AY+ for 72.5k avios in J provided the connections are included in this price. AY+ award on Sri Lankan probably also worth one shot for combining Sri Lanka (64k avios) and Thailand (+24k avios). On top of that there’s CX via Alaska MP and ANA via Virgin FC if awards can be found. So for BKK/Asia…BA no longer on my radar even with a 2-4-1.

It’s interesting how value proposition is very different depending on origin and needs.
For me, booking BA for approx. the equivalent of £1050 each way in J direct to BKK seems to be the best option now in terms of points. I live in London. If I use AY, I have to book a separate flight to CPH, a hotel there, and then have 2 onwards AY flights, at a similar overall cost for 3 flights + hotel vs. 1 flight.
I would use AY if I wanted to tack on a city break in one of their Zone 1 cities though.
Cash is cheaper. If I don’t need flexibility then I’ll probably book either CX, QR or AY from somewhere ex-EU.
It is interesting to compare but for me I prefer AY seats but the food is poor, HEL airport and lounge are very good. Qatar would be good if they didn’t mess about with equipment changes…and saying all of that convenience of a direct BA flight works for me as I booked flights yesterday. Just need to fill 6 weeks of winter sun with a sensible itinerary 🙂
