Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Barclaycard Voucher – Connecting flight

  • 5 posts

    Hi all,

I have one (soon to be two) Barclays cabin upgrade vouchers I’d like to use to book flights for my honeymoon in March. I have about 190k Avios.

We’re travelling London-Phuket and can either go the whole route return on Qatar using Avios + taxes (coming in about £750 return for two) but of course not using the voucher as no BA leg.

We can go London-Dubai/Doha on BA and then connect to a Phuket flight with Qatar however, and do the same on the way back.

Annoyingly, the BA website isn’t applying the upgrade voucher to the BA leg of the trip, London-Dubai or London-Doha.

If I just search London-Dubai/Doha on our flight date, there is availability in premium so that’s not the issue.

Do I need to call BA or am I missing something that means we can’t do an onward connecting on a different airline?

You have to book this separately. The BA system and voucher T&C won’t allow you to apply it to 2 legs out of 4.

So you can book LON-Dubai/Doha and separately book Qatar to Thailand.

You will bein trouble if BA has delays (but if you leave enough time between flights you may benefits from UK261 protection.

Ah, I see. Thank you. Good point on delays..not what we want to worry about on honeymoon!

Thinking we may just go the whole way with Qatar using Avios and pay taxes/charges. Shame not to use two upgrade vouchers and also blow my whole stash of Avios so they may be unusable until I build the bank up again…!

It’s the same answer to the question you posted on the annoyingly similarly named thread ‘Barclays Upgrade Voucher-Connecting Flight’ to which you received the answer before posting again.

So sorry to hear that was annoying for you 🙂 The forum was not showing the thread as posted.

Thanks Yonasl for your kind replies.
